This is a big bold powerful wine with a lot of personality. Aromas of strawberries and blackberries greet the nose dotted by occasional floral notes. Cherry and pit fruit flavors are balanced by silky vanilla and mocha imparted from a year of aging. A combination of American, French and Russian oak barrels were employed to create well structured tannins and provide a lengthy toasty finish. Give this wine a few minutes in the glass to open up or better yet, decant for a bit before enjoying. This wine will age well over the next decade. Enjoy with steaks, ribs and spiced meat platters. Robert Parker gave this wine 91 points and Conde de San Cristóbal deserves bonus kudos for adhering to strictly sustainable farming techniques without the use of herbicides and pesticides.
