The name of this wine, Il Cuore, is Italian and its style is true to its name. This Cabernet Sauvignon is typical of Old World wines in that the emphasis of flavor is on the natural expression of the grape. While California wines tend to focus on the art of wine making to impart desired flavors and characteristics in the wine, traditional European wines employ these techniques sparingly. Floral scents on the nose are dotted with hints of black cherries which lead into black cherry flavors on the palate. Accompanied by plum and pit fruits, the soft silky tannins linger through the finish. A touch of oak adds to the depth of the wine without overpowering the rich fruit flavors. Enjoy this wine with hummus appetizers and mild to moderately flavorful cheeses platters. Bonus points for the original artwork by cubist painter, Dan Rizzie, on the label.
